School computerization program under way in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, August 27, Asia-Plus — Further nearly 5,000 computers and more than 800 printers will be distributed to schools in the country soon as part of the ongoing school computerization program designed for 2003-2007, presidential press service said.

Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for the president, said that President Emomali Rahmon singed an order on this subject at the end of last week.

By president’s order t4,998 computers and 833 printers will be handed over to local authorities for distribution to schools, the spokesman said.

“348 computers and 58 printers will be sent to Gorno Badakhshan, the Sughd province will receive 1,088 computers and 182 printers, Khatlon – 2,526 computers and 421 printers, Dushanbe – 100 computers and 16 printers, and cities and districts subordinate to the center – 936 computers and 156 printers,” Sharifzoda said.
