DUSHANBE, August 6, Asia-Plus – day.az – On Monday August 6, a Tajik working group, comprising representatives from president’s office and various ministries and organizations and led by Rustam Dadajonov, the head of CIS directorate of the MFA, began consultations with Azerbaijan’s officials in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku on the upcoming official visit of President Emomali Rahmon to this country, Azerbaijani website day.az reported.
An official two-day visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Azerbaijan is expected to start next Monday.
During its stay in Baku, the Tajik delegation will hold talks with senior representatives from Azerbaijani president’s office to project a schedule of the upcoming visit and complete preparation of appropriate documents for signing during the visit.
A high-ranking governmental delegation will accompany President Rahmon on his first official visit to Azerbaijan.
The main talks are scheduled for August 13. President Rahmon will hold private meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, President Ilham Aliyev, and then negotiations in an enlarged format with participation of members of the governments of the two countries will be held.
During his stay in Baku, Rahmon is also scheduled to hold talks with other high-ranking Azerbaijani state officials.
Tajik president’s visit to Azerbaijan is supposed to result in signing of some 10 bilateral cooperation documents.
Day.az says that according to the preliminary data, the sides will sign agreements on avoiding double taxation, bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, telecommunications, etc. The sides are also expected to sign an agreement on launching the direct flight between Dushanbe and Baku.
We will recall that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was on his official visit to Tajikistan on March 15-16 this year.
On March 15, he met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The sides noted that attached great importance to their bilateral relations and indicated their readiness to expand cooperation in all spheres, including economy and trade. Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan has decided to open an embassy in Dushanbe.
During Aliyev’s visit to Dushanbe, a number of bilateral cooperation documents, including an agreement on visa-free travel, were signed.
