DUSHANBE, July 23, Asia-Plus — Tajik State Air Company TajikAir stands sixth among 23 CIS air carriers in terms of the regularity of carriage by air, TajikAir deputy director general, Firouz Hamroyev, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 20.

He said that the Moscow airport Domodedovo announced an air carriage competition last May.  “According to the results submitted by interstater aviation commission, Tajikistan stands seventh place among 12 CIS states in terms of regularity of flights,” the deputy director general said.

Asked about reasons for canceling flight to Munich, Hamroyev said that they had had to temporarily suspend that flight because of its unprofitability.  According to him, Tajik national air carrier incurred serious losses after operating two-three flights from Dushanbe to Munich.

He added that TajikAir’s office in Munich had also been temporarily closed.  “German authorities have agreed to take active part in establishment of TajikAir’s office in Frankfurt,” the TajikAir official said.

On the program for reconstruction of the Dushanbe airport, the TajikAir deputy director general for economic matters, Sanginmurod Nourulloyev, said that it had been designed for the period until 2010.  “This three-staged program includes construction of new terminal, installation of new technical equipment and development of the airport’s infrastructure,” Nourulloyev said.

On the new terminal, he said that it will be a two-story buildings with two sleeves to get planes.

Asked about deployment of Russian and French military planes and personnel at the Dushanbe airport, Firouz Hamroyev said that it is planned to relocate them to the military airfield in Hissor, reconstruction of which is expected to be finished in the near future.

Hamroyev added that some 100 Tajik students now study at higher educational institutions of civil aviation in the CIS states.  “Thus, nine Tajik students are studying pilot discipline at Kyrgyzstan’s Aviation Institute,” the deputy director general said.
