DUSHANBE, June 29, Asia-Plus — The NGO Women Scientists has received 45 calls over the last three months under the project for responding cases of violence against children that was launched in April.

The NGO chairwoman Muhiba Yoqubova said the project is being implemented in partnership with the department for child’s rights at the Dushanbe mayor’s office under support of the UNCIEF Co in Tajikistan.

According to her, analysis of the calls has shown that teenagers and sometimes their parents are faced with quite serious problems such as sexual demands, early marriage constraints, conflict relations with parents and so forth.  “Unfortunately, one may make conclusion that society is not yet well aware of problems of violence against children,” Ms. Yoqubova said, noting that it is society responsibility to help prevent violence against children.

The project is designed to provide in-depth information on the subject.

She noted that an expert group for violence problems works at the National Commission for Child’s Rights, the situation analysis has been projected and the children’s mobile group has been set up.
