DUSHANBE, June 20, Asia-Plus – Tajik State Air Company TajikAir has leased one Boeing B737-200.
The aircraft with logotype of Tajik national air carrier landed at the Dushanbe airport Monday afternoon. Today, the plane will operate the first flight on the domestic air route from Dushanbe to Khujand.
Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for TajikAir, told Asia-Plus that the aircraft had been leased from EASTOK AVIA (FZE), which deals with providing aircraft leasing and chartering services. “An appropriate agreement between TajikAir and EASTOK AVIA (FZE) was concluded at end of May,” the spokeswoman said. However, she refrained from giving further details of the agreement terms.
The spokeswoman noted that it is the first west type aircraft leased by Tajik national air carrier. “Boeing B737-200 is planned to partially replace three TU-134s on air routes from Dushanbe to Khujand, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Almaty, Tehran and other cities,” Davlatova said.
We will recall that Tajik national air carrier now has four TU-154s, seven Yak-40s, three AN-28s, three TU-134s, as well as four AN-24s, to AN-26s and four helicopters M-8 MTV based at the Dushanbe airport.
It is to be noted that many aircraft operated by TajikAir will have outlived their service life within the next few years.
