DUSHANBE, April 8, 2009, Asia-Plus — Members of permanent commissions at the Parliament Assembly (PA) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are holding a joint meeting in St. Petersburg today, according to press service of the CSTO Secretariat.
The meeting aims to consider the outcomes of the extraordinary session of the Organization’s Collective Security Council that was held in Moscow in February and discuss a draft concept of harmonization and unification of the collective security laws of the member nations.
The meeting is also expected to discuss issues related to celebration of the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and holding of scientific-practical conference on problems of harmonization of national laws on providing activity of military contingent of the CSTO states.
Besides, the permanent commission on defense and security will also consider issues related to implementation of the program of legal support for the plan of main actions on strengthening of interstate cooperation on formation and development of the CSTO collective security system designed for 2006-2010, expansion of cooperation between member nations in countering international drug dealing and holding of the third international assembly of the CSTO youth patriotic and military-sports associations, press service said.
