DUSHANBE, May 28, Asia-Plus – Khorasan Razavi province and Tajikistan signed two memoranda of understanding and two other agreements during a trip by a provincial delegation to Dushanbe.
Governor General of Khorasan Razavi province Mohammad-Javad Mohammadizade said at a press conference on Sunday that supporting Iranian investors and providing facilities to Iranian businessmen to participate in Tajik markets were among the achievements of the trip.
Mohammadizade, who headed the economic delegation on the visit to Tajikistan, held talks with ministers of energy and industry, agriculture and environment, building and architecture and culture of the Central Asian country on Thursday and Friday.
He said that the two sides reached consensus on expansion of cooperation in all fields.
“In an agreement with the Tajik minister of energy and industries, we expressed our readiness to construct a cement plant with a production capacity of one million tons, reconstruct the existing plant, and increase its potential by two-fold,” he added.
“Iran Khodro Company (IKCO), a group of spare parts manufacturers of Khorasan Razavi province and Tajik side will establish production line of a suitable brand of car in Tajikistan with shares divisions envisaged at 20, 30 and 50 percent respectively.”
He also signed a MoU with Tajik Construction and Architecture Agency head under which Iranian companies will provide technical and engineering services for which equipment brought into Tajikistan will be exempt of duties.
The two sides reached a consensus on constructing 500 residential units and a 12-storey tower, he said, adding that with the cooperation of the Tajik side, this project will be expanded.
In the agricultural sector, Mohammadizade and Tajik agriculture minister inked an agreement on mechanization services in an area of 1,000 ha as well as cooperation with Iranian investors on training farms cultivating potatoes and sugar beet and ceding free land, water, electricity and gas.
Iran and Tajikistan agreed to hold cultural weeks of the two countries in line with expanding cooperation and having active participation in exhibitions.
