DUSHANBE April 16, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan is carrying out work on restoration of architectural monuments and cultural relics.

Muzaffar Azizov, the head of the department for preservation and use of historical-cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture (MoC), told Asia-Plus that the country’s national budget had earmarked 618,000 somonis this year for restoration of historical and cultural relics.

Azizov noted that at present they are restoring historical relics such as the Mavlono Usmoni Charkhi complex in Istaravshan, Qalai Urda in Isfara, as well as Varzi Manor and Abulqosim Gurgoni in Ayni.  

“In the near future, we plan to start restoration of the Vamar Fortress in the Rushan district and Oim Medrese in Konibodom as well as a series of cultural relics in the Panjakent district,” the MoC official said, adding that scientific center for restoration of cultural relics at the MoC is engaged in restoration of architectural monuments and historical relics in the country.
