DUSHANBE, April 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  — France will allocate additional loan for construction of international terminal at the Dushanbe airport, according to press of the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

A protocol on allocation of a preferential long-term loan of 3 million euros was inked by Mr. Jamoliddin Nouraliyev, Tajik Deputy Minister of Finance, and by Mr. Nicole Prego, Head of Department, France’s Ministry of Economy in Dushanbe on April 1.

The loan carrying and annual interest of 0.15 percent provides for 39 years with a 20-year grace period, press service said.

The additional loan brings the total cost of the project for construction of a new terminal at the Dushanbe airport to 27 million euros.

We will recall that Tajikistan and France signed a financial protocol on the terminal construction project on August 8, 2008.  Under that protocol, France provides 17 million euros in preferential long-term loan for implementation of the project for construction an international terminal at the Dushanbe airport.  The loan carries a 35-year term, including a grace period of 20 years, and an interest rate of 0.15% per annum.

Tajikistan’s contribution to the project amounts to 7 million euros.  The project, designed for two year, is expected to be implemented by 2009.
