DUSHANBE, January 29, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Drug Control Agency (DCA) is introducing an automated system of control of legal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, dubbed NDS-6.0, according to the Tajik counternarcotics agency.

Alisher Tashripov, head of the DCA department for legal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that all data concerning legal circulation of narcotics drugs will be put on an electronic register.  “The register will include a list of all facilities having license for this type of activity, statistics on movement of the narcotic drugs (export/import), and requirements of medical facilities in the narcotic drugs,” Tashripov said, noting that it will make easier control over their activities.

According to him, officers from the counternarcotics agency last week took a training course on how to operate the NDS-6.0 system.  “An expert from the UNODC Vladimir Zemskov conducted this training,” the DCA official said.

According to the counternarcotics agency, at present more than 130 medical facilities and industrial enterprises in Tajikistan have licenses for legal circulation of the narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors.
