KHOROG, December 25, Asia-Plus — A rate of the collection of funds from the public and enterprises for electricity supplies has been increasing in Gorno Badakhshan.

“Compared to last year the collection of funds from the public and enterprises for electrical power in the region has much improved and its rate has nearly doubled over the past eleven months,” Otamsho Khushqadamov, deputy director of PamirEnergy, said in interview with Asia-Plus.  The number of consumers having no debt for electricity over the past eleven months has increased from 900 to 1800, according to him.  

To encourage regular payment for electricity supplies the company has organized lottery for the most conscientious payers.    

 “We also plan to consider the possibility of lowering electricity payments for our conscientious consumers,” Khushqadamov said, noting that compared to last year, the electricity debts in region have been reduced by 340,000 somonis.  

In the meantime, according to Amrikhon Rahimov, an official with PamirEnergy, the company has generated 147.7 million kWh of electricity in January-November 2006, which is 36 million kWh more than in the same period of last year.
