DUSHANBE, December 11, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan plans to have quadrupled the number of poultry by 2015, Muzaffar Mirzoyev, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.  

According to him, under the national poultry development program the number of poultry in the country is expected to have been increased to 10.443 million head by 2015.  “the government has provided US$40 million for implementing this program,” Mirzoyev said, noting that the number of poultry on all categories of farms, as of December 1, 2006, has amounted to 2,559,700 head, which is 8.2 percent than last year  

At present 18 poultry farms operate in the republic.  “The farms will receive funds to improve their activity and increase the number of poultry and will repay the received funds by the dates fixed,” the Tajik agricultural official said.
