DUSHANBE, March 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — Five documents on cooperation between Tajikistan and Mongolia have been singed during President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Mongolia, according to presidential press service.
President Emomali Rahmon heading a high-ranking delegation arrived in Ulan-Bator for an official two-day yesterday afternoon. Economic Development and Trade Minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda, Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov, Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management Farrukh Hamraliyev, as well as State Adviser to the President for International Matters Erkin Rahmatulloyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Abdullo Yuldoshev are accompanying Rahmon on his visit to Mongolia.
The same day, Emomali Rahmon held talks with his Mongolian counterpart, President Nambaryn Enkhbayar. Their talks were followed by negotiations between the government delegations of the two countries. In the course of the talks, the sides discussed bilateral cooperation in sectors like transportation, energy, animal husbandry, production of meat and milk, processing of leather and wool. President Rahmon pointed to the necessity of establishing an intergovernmental commission for economic and trade cooperation.
The negotiations resulted in signing of five cooperation documents. Rahmon and Enkhbayar inked a joint statement on the main principles of cooperation between Tajikistan and Mongolia. Besides, the governments of the two countries singed the agreements on trade and economic cooperation, the avoidance of double taxation and for the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income, veterinary cooperation, and quarantine and protection of plants.
Speaking to reporters after the document-signing ceremony, Rahmon noted that the negotiations had laid foundation for further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Mongolia in different fields, presidential press service said.
