DUSHANBE, October 12, Asia-Plus — Schools in Tajikistan will not be left without electricity this winter, Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov told journalists yesterday.
The ministry and the “Barqi Tojik”, the Tajik electric system, have signed an agreement to build separate power transmission lines to schools in rural areas. ”This will provide a regular supply of electricity to schools during the winter” the minister noted.
He said local authorities are purchasing generators and local businessmen and international organizations are also providing support to the education sector.
The minister noted that next year, the ministry plans to purchase 500 computers for schools in remote rural areas.
