DUSHANBE, August 14, Asia-Plus – On August 12, Tajikistan marked a Day of Builder.  On this occasion, a meeting with participation of Deputy Tajik Prime Minister, Asadullo Ghulomov, was held at the Committee for Construction and Architecture.  Some 200 representatives from Tajikistan’s construction sector have been invited to attend this meeting.   

Asadullo Ghulomov congratulated Tajik builders on their professional holiday and noted that lately, considerable development of the country’s construction sector was to be observed.  

According to data from the Committee for Construction and Architecture, more than 1.8 million Somonis’ worth of contract works has been done in Tajikistan over the first half-year of 2006.  In January-June 2006, an overall space of 147,224 square meters in residential buildings has been made available.   Over the same six-month period, general educational schools to accommodate 3,184pupils, preschool facilities to accommodate 100 children and hospitals with a total of 112 beds have been put into operation, and polyclinics that can handle 150 visits per shift have been introduced.

In January-June 2006, the country has produced a total of some 1.80 million Somonis worth of industrial goods.  Compared to the first half-year of 2005 the index of the volume of industrial goods has amounted 146.1 percent.
