Tajikistan showcases its clothing products at international textile exhibition in Tashkent

For the first time, Tajikistan has showcased its clothing products at the international exhibition for textile and fashion industries "UzTextile Expo Spring” held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.  The exhibition kicked off on April 27 and is concluding today.

In addition to attending the UzTextile Expo Tajikistan delegation also benefitted from b2b meetings to establish direct contacts and expand the cooperation opportunities.

According to the International Trade Centre (ITC) Office in Tajikistan, three Tajik clothing companies – Guliston Dushanbe (Dushanbe), Ortex and Rahimov A.A. (both Khujand) have displayed their products at the 4th UZ Textile Expo Spring international fair, and 17 other textile and clothing companies from all over Tajikistan joined the delegation to discover the fair, learn new trends, source needed raw materials such as mixed yarns and accessories, as well as establish new business contacts.

The Tajik textile delegation reportedly also gained from an extensive business program, including attending conferences and business meetings, ready-to-wear fashion shows, master classes from leading designers and industry experts, and etc.

The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan, the Union of Private Sector Development of Tajikistan, as well as local consulting companies – “ACT Development” (Dushanbe) and “Business Consulting Group” (Khujand) joined and guided the delegation in this trip.

UzTextile Expo – is the unique international specialized exhibition of textile and fashion industry in Central Asia. Visited by over 9,000 experts, businessmen, and traders annually, the exhibition demonstrates the achievements of the textile business and fashion industry from the world's leading manufacturers along the entire production chain – from yarn to ready-made clothing. The event helps to find partners in Uzbekistan, the largest consumer market of Central Asia with a population exceeding 34 million.

Participation in international trade fairs provides good opportunities for project beneficiary companies to be competitive in regional markets through the establishment of new business contacts, obtaining new information on the sector developments, and learning more about global market requirements.

This business program was made possible through the close cooperation between ITC, GIZ and USAID in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan. The project of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Tajikistan, Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP)/ Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience (TRIGGER), is jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).  USAID’s Future Growth Initiative (FGI) is designed to spur productive economic activity across Central Asia.  The International Trade Centre's Global Textiles and Clothing Program (GTEX) is funded by the Government of Switzerland and aims to promote T&C exports and to stimulate employment and income generation along the value chain.
