KHUJAND, June 9, Asia-Plus — The majority of higher educational institutions in the northern province of Sughd have raised prices for studying on contractual basis.  

At some institutes, prices for studying on contractual basis have risen by 60 percent.  

According to information from the Central Asian branch of Russia’s New University having 500 students, an annual cost of post tuition now will amount to 13,000 Russian rubles.  

Tajik State University of Commerce training students on ten specialties has raised prices for studying from US$120 to US$200 per year.  

According to information from secretariat of Tajik University of Law, Business and Politics in Khujand, the price of studying on the Law Faculty has risen from US$300 to US$500 per year.  

In the Khujand Branch of Tajik Technological University, the studying prices have risen from US$200-US$400 to US$250-US$500 depending on faculty.  

Administration of Khujand State University has not yet defined new prices for students studying on contractual basis.  Last year, they paid 450-500 Somonis per year.  However, the possibility of the university raising the studying prices cannot be ruled out.  

The prices of studying at Slavic University in Khujand remain the same – US$400 per year.
