, May 18, Asia-Plus – A symposium formally titled “
Tajikistan
” concluded in
Vienna
Wednesday [May 17].
The main purpose of the conference was in acquainting European researchers, diplomats and businesspeople with
Tajikistan
, according to information from the headquarters of
Tajikistan
’s Islamic Revival Party (IRPT) in
Dushanbe
.
The IRPT source says first deputy IRPT chairman also deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (
Tajikistan
’s lower chamber of parliament), Muhiddin Kabiri, took part in the symposium’s work. He delivered a statement entitled “Political Islam: Past, Present and Future.”
Mr. Kabiri’s report was dedicated to activity of the IRPT and its contribution to settlement of civil conflict in
Tajikistan
.
The symposium was staged by
Austria
’s
Diplomatic
Academy
and Institute for Oriental Studies.
