, May 16, Asia-Plus – Senior representatives from Tajik enterprise “Zarya Vostoka” and Afghan company “Hazrati Vali” have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on delivering the Tajik enterprise’s products to
Afghanistan
, according to information from the Industries Ministry.
The document was signed in
Kabul
on the sidelines of international industrial exhibition “Kabul-2006” that was held in the Afghan capital on May 9-12.
The Industries Ministry source that under the signed document the Afghan company will purchase products manufactured by the “Zarya Vostoka” enterprise based in the Tajik northern city of
Taboshar
, some 30 kilometers of Khujand. At present “Zarya Vostoka” manufactures consumer goods, souvenirs, gum shoes and respirators exporting to the CIS states, etc.
Besides the Afghan company, Arab company “Technique Com” and Ukrainian entrepreneurs have also shown interest in purchasing the “Zarya Vostoka” products, according to the source.

The “Zarya Vostoka” State Unitary Enterprise was set up in Taboshar in January 1968 as the branch of
Russia
’s “Aleksinskii Chemical Plant”. In the Soviet era, the “Zarya Vostoka” enterprise had manufactured products for the Soviet war industry and made significant contribution to development of nuclear power engineering in the
Soviet Union
. In October 1991, the “Zarya Vostoka” plant was renamed into the production association “Zarya Vostoka” and in April 2001, it was transformed into the “Zarya Vostoka” Sate Unitary Enterprise. In Nineties, the “Zarya Vostoka” enterprise was standing practically idle.
