Delegations from more than 20 countries and international organizations will partake in the International Conference on Afghanistan that will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from July 25-26, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The main goal of the event is reportedly to develop a range of measures and suggestions to approaches of the international community to facilitation of stability, security, post-conflict reconstruction of Afghanistan and its integration into regional cooperation processes.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, noted in May that the key focus would be on security, political stability and the socio-economic development of the region.
“As for Afghanistan, unfortunately, we are seeing a decrease in the attention of the international community to the situation in this country. Meanwhile, the situation there remains difficult, due to the acute economic crisis and the difficult humanitarian situation, challenges to regional security and stability remain,” he said, according to the Tashkent Times.
The event will be continuation of Tashkent High-Level International Conference on Afghanistan "Peaceful Process, Cooperation in Security and Regional Interaction" (March 27, 2018), Tashkent High-Level Conference "Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities" (July 15-16, 2021).
