Sergey Lavrov and Sirojiddin Mukhriddin discussed various issues of bilateral relations during a meeting today in Moscow.
The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of the two Russian diplomats who died today in Kabul as a result of a terrorist attack, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
In this regard, Lavrov, speaking about the situation in the region, said that the terrorist threat is not going anywhere.
«Including from the territory of neighboring Afghanistan, he noted. – After today's incident, measures were stepped up to protect the embassy building, additional forces of the Taliban authorities were involved, and intelligence and counterintelligence were involved to search for those who ordered the attack. <…> Let's hope that the organizers of this terrorist act and its perpetrators will be punished as soon as possible.».
Speaking of other issues, Lavrov said that Russia has consistently remained Tajikistan's leading trading partner and one of the key investors in the republic's economy.
