DUSHANBE, January 23, Asia-Plus — To date, 2.044 able-bodied population have been officially reported in Tajikistan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Zokir Vazirov, told journalists in Dushanbe on January 20.

According to him, there are more than one million vacancies in the republic but people cannot get jobs because of low professional skills.  “For example, the Dushanbe water supply system Vodokanal (DVK) offers some 800 vacancies with good wages but so far, they have managed to found only two specialists,” the minister said.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, employment centers throughout the republic last year registered more than 80,000 job seeking people.  “Of them, 22,000 were placed in jobs,” Zokirov said, noting that to date, 44,000 jobless receiving unemployment benefits have officially been reported in Tajikistan.

He also noted that they had reached agreements on placing our citizens in jobs with Mongolia, a number of Arab states, the CIS states and other countries.  “But we cannot offer specialists they need,” Vazirov stressed.

“On implementation of joint projects with the Russian Federation, some 50,000 our fellow-countrymen will be able to get jobs inside the republic and have good wages,” the minister said.
