Tajikistan has sent 5,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Pakistan that has experienced its worst humanitarian crisis in a decade in recent months, Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for the Tajik President, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

By president’s order the humanitarian aid was reportedly sent to Pakistan on December 1.

ИЗОБРАЖЕНИЕ

According to Sharifzoda, the assistance includes 300 tons of wheat flour, 20,000 liters of vegetable oil, 100 tons of wheat, 100 tons of rice and pasta, 1,500 tons of coal, 2,000 tons of cement, 500 tons of drinking water, 5,000 slate sheets, 100 cubic meters of wood, and more than 40,000 of laundry soaps.

A total cost of the humanitarian aid is 19.2 million somonis.

ИЗОБРАЖЕНИЕ

It is to be noted that it is already the second humanitarian aid sent by Tajikistan to Pakistan.  In September, Tajikistan sent 12.2 million somonis worth of humanitarian aid to Pakistan.

In early September 2022, floods in Pakistan were the worst in a decade.  Monsoon rains had pummeled the region for several weeks and floodwaters inundated 75,000 square kilometers of the country.  Severe flooding washed away villages and killed 1,265 people.   Flood-hit communities have also seen outbreaks of waterborne diseases.
