, April 4, Asia-Plus – German-Tajik Friendship Society has provided humanitarian aid to the
Dushanbe
orphanage “Chorbogh” that was destroyed by blaze in January this year.
Chairman of the German-Tajik Friendship Society, Alexander Gieser, has told Asia-Plus that funds collected in Germany were sent to the German Embassy in Dushanbe and went to purchasing much-needed clothing and hygiene items for the survivors of the January “Chorbogh” orphanage fire.
According to Mr. Gieser, the funds have been collected by the German-Tajik Friendship Society, which has been operating in
Berlin
since 2000. Alexander Gieser also said that the Society was being implemented a series of exchange projects with participation of
Tajikistan
’s schoolchildren, medical workers and environmental protection specialists.
“Last year alone, delegations of schoolchildren from
Dushanbe
and Qurghon Teppa as well as representatives from the
Qurghon
Teppa
German
Center
visited
Germany
,” the Asia-Plus interlocutor said.
Besides, oncologists from Kulob and Dushanbe Republican Dyakov hospital took training courses at the “Scharite” Clinic in 2004 and 2005 under the project and financial support of the Society, according to him.
“Within the framework of cultural events held by the Society we make Germans familiar with traditions of Tajiks, mark the Navruz and Mehrgon holidays as well as organize exhibitions of painters, concerts and demonstration of Tajik movies,” said the Society head, “Among our permanent guests are many known persons such as German orientalist Professor Manfred Lorenz, Tajik artiste Muzaffar Burhonov and other known persons.”
