KHUJAND, April 22, 2009, Asia-Plus — The branch of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Agroinvestbonk in the Sughd province has begun providing loans to local farming units for this year’s cotton sowing and harvesting campaign.
According to the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Khujand, the Ministry of Finance has given the first 1.7253 million somoni tranche to Agroinvestbonk for providing loans to cotton farmers in northern Tajikistan.
Since April 17, Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Khujand has provided totaling 880,175 somoni in loans to farming units in Zafarobod (236,600 somoni), Konibodom (292,900 somoni), Bobojonghafurov (271,000), Mastchoh (36,500 somoni) and Spitamen (43,175 somoni) districts.
In all, Agroinvestbonk will provide 12.5 million somoni in loans to Sughd cotton farmers this year, the source Agroinvestbonk’s branch in Khujand said.
