QURGHON TEPPA, October 23, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of Qubodiyon district in Khatlon province, Abdulmumin Ulfatov, has called on local officials to send their sons to serve in the army.

Speaking at a meeting with reporters, Ulfatov noted on October 22 that if officials do not set an example, it will be not correct to demand the same from the population.

“I have charged all my deputies and heads of local enterprises and organizations as well as chairmen of jamoats (local communities) to send their sons of conscription age who do not study at universities to serve in the army,” Ulfatov stated.

According to him, six local officials have heeded his call and sent their sons to serve in the armed forces.

According to the military registration and enlistment office in Khuroson district of Khatlon, officials in Khuroson district are also sending their sons of conscription age to serve in the army.  “Thus, the Khuroson deputy chairman also chief of the local conscription commission has sent his son to serve in the army,” the source said.
