DUSHANBE, September 23, 2010, Asia-Plus — A delegation of India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) is arriving in Dushanbe today for a two-day visit, Mr. Ramesh Babu, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy in Dushanbe noted on September 21 at meeting with Mr. Sharif Said, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), according to the CCI press service.
The Indian delegation members also include representatives from A.N. Leathers Pvt. Ltd, Masood Alam & Co, Hidesign Pondichery, and N.J. Leathers. During their stay in Tajikistan, they are scheduled to visit Tajik leather-processing enterprises.
India is one of large exporters of leather and leather products and the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe asked CCI to assist with organization of meetings of Indian entrepreneurs with Tajik raw stock suppliers, the CCI press service said.
CCI top managers noted that they were ready to help Indian businessmen establish close business cooperation with Tajik entrepreneurs and expressed hope that the meetings would pave the way for mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation between Tajik and Indian entrepreneurs in leather and leather products.
Established in July 1984, the Council for Leather Exports is an autonomous non-profit company entrusted with export promotion activities and development of the Indian leather industry. Functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, CLE is the apex body of the 2400 member rapidly growing Indian leather Industry. CLE”s activities are multiple and directed towards assisting its members in extending their global reach thereby increasing their exports. CLE caters to the needs of the leather exporters and serves as a connecting bridge between Indian leather exporters and buyers all over the world.
