KHOROG, August 24, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Pamir Energy Company (PamirEnergy) that operates the Pamir-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) announced on August 23 that the station suspends operations for the planned repair-and-renewal work.
The repair-and renewal operations that will last for a week until August 30 have resulted in the supply of daily electrical power to the city of Khorog and Shugnan, Rushan, Ishkashim, and Roshtqala districts being reduced to 18 hours.
Amirkhon Rahimov, the head of the PamirEnergy generation department, told Asia-Plus that the repair-and-renewal operations were carried out to ensure regular work of the station during the autumn-winter period.
“The company’s customers now receive electricity 18 hours per day from the Khorog hydropower plant on rotation: electricity supplies are cut off only for three hours in the morning and for three hours in the evening,” Rahimov said.
