DUSHANBE, August 24, 2010, Asia-Plus – Tajik law enforcement authorities have reportedly averted terrorist act in the south of Dushanbe.

A reliable source at one of power-wielding structures of the country told Asia-Plus Monday morning that a special operation carried out by the law enforcement agencies yesterday led to the arrest of the 26-year-old resident of Khatlon’s Vose district, Halim Isoyev, in Dushanbe’s Giprozem area, not far from headquarters of Russian military base.

“The RGD-5 hand grenade, substance like TNT and a mobile phone case were confiscated from him,” said the source.  “Homemade explosive device consisting of electric detonator, mobile phone Sony-Ericsson, and 2.17 kilogram of aluminum powder were found his bag.  The device was stuffed with nails and screws to heighten the bomb”s power.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Halim Isoyev and an investigation is under way.
