KHUJAND, August 18, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A ceremony of handover of first certificates to entities of the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ) in northern Tajikistan took place on August 18.  Local entrepreneurs as well as representatives of business communities from Russia, Poland and Turkey also attended the certificate-handover ceremony.

The FEZ SUGHD manager Anvar Yoqubov told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon that the limited liability companies Dusti Amirkhon (launched in 2010 on the basis of the Gazoapparat plant), Skorut Taj (launched on the basis of the Gazoapparat plant as well) and Nasoskomplekt as well as open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sirandud (active since June 2010) have become the first entities of the free economic zone in Sughd.

Dusti Amirkhon will produce silicate cotton with use of the latest technologies.  A total cost of the project is 13.3 million euros.

Skorut Taj will manufacture solar energy commutators for heating rooms and solar batteries.  The first line is expected to produce up to 2,000 solar batteries per year.  A total cost of the project is 6.6 million euros.

Limited liability company, Nasoskomplekt, will manufacture electric pumps and the estimated volume of sales is 1,000-1,200 pumps per year, Yoqubov said.

Open joint-stock company, Sirandud, launched on the basis of the plant for production of enameled dishes, will manufacture bolts, screw nuts, and screw nails from metals delivered from Russia.  A total cost of the project is 600,000 U.S. dollars.

The free economic zone in Sughd province was officially opened on August 18, 2009.
