DUSHANBE, February 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — More than 80 tons of the US donated food worth 86,600 US dollars are being distributed to medical facilities and orphanages today, Ms. Fotima Yoqubova, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (MoH), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to her, the aid was delivered to Tajikistan by the American non-governmental organization Resource & Policy Exchange, Inc. (PRX) under financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The public association Avesto is distributing the food to Republican TB Hospital, orphanages and medical facilities.  Participants in the handover ceremony are expected to include representatives of a MoH, the US Embassy in Dushanbe and the USAID Dushanbe Office, the spokesperson said
