China has become one of the largest investors in the economy of Kazakhstan with the total volume of investments of USD 8.4 billion. Kazakh Secretary of State- Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev has said it making a speech at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Since 1992 the volume of bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China increased more than 25 times and reached record USD 17.5 billion in 2008.

The Secretary of State expressed gratitude to the People”s Republic of China for the financial support of implementation of important infrastructural projects in the amount of USD 13.5 billion.

“This step played for Kazakhstan an important role in successful overcoming of negative consequences of the global financial crisis”, he emphasized.
