KHUJAND, February 13, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Khujand-based Charitable Foundation named after academician Komil Tojiyev, Dili Kudak (Child’s Heart), will pay for heart surgeries for 10 local children suffering from congenital heart disease, Abdusalom Rabiyev, a chief surgeon with the Sughd health directorate, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the operations will be performed at the Sughd Regional Cardiology Center in summer this year under direction of skilled cardiac surgery from Russia.  “Such operations will be performed in the Sughd province for the first time,” Rabiyev said, noting that performance of similar operations at Russian clinics costs on average 7,000 US dollars.
