DUSHANBE, February 2, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan has allocated more than 644,000 hectares of farmland, including  445,400 hectares of irrigated lands, for various agricultural crops this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).

Farmers have already plowed more than 445,000 hectares to this day, which is 69 percent of the overall area of lands allocated for agricultural crops this year, the source at a MoA said.

According to him, more than 170,000 hectares has been allocated for cotton this year: 54,000 hectares in the Sughd province, 108,000 hectares in the Khatlon province, and 7,500 hectares in districts subordinate to the center (RRPs).
