DUSHANBE, December 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Reduction in power supplies to Kulob is connecting with work on cutting off electricity supply to debtors, Nozirojon Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik power holding, told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, the Barqi Tojik administration at the end of last week passed an instruction on cutting off electricity supply to the most incorrigible nonpayers, including residential customers and industrial enterprises, until December 6.

“Under this instruction, Barqi Tojik’s branches in the provinces are currently cutting off electricity supply to the most incorrigible nonpayers,” said Yodgori, “In this connection, residential customers in Kulob have had electricity 10-11 hours per day over the past several days.  As soon as the work is completed, regular power supplies will be resumed.”
