KHUJAND, November 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Two drug peddlers who ingested drugs were detained at the Khujand airport on November 22, according to the department for combating  drug trafficking (drug police) within the Sughd police directorate.

Two residents of the Sughd province – the 31-year-old resident of the city of Istravshan Gulshod Sheraliyeva and the 21-year-old resident of the Zafarobod district Melikboy Yuldoshev – were caught following report received.

They were taken to the Zafarobod central district hospital, where 60 wraps of substances proved to be heroin weighing 314 grams were extracted from Sheraliyeva’s stomach and 76 other wraps of narcotics drug tested positive to heroin weighing 428 grams were extracted from Yuldoshev’s stomach, the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Sheraliyeva and Yuldoshev under the provisions of Articles 200, Part 3 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking, and an investigation is under way.
