DUSHANBE, October 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — More than 261,000 tons of gasoline have been delivered to Tajikistan in January-September this year, which is practically the same amount that was delivered to the country in the same period of last year, Toshpoulod Rabiyev, the head of the antimonopoly directorate within the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“108,000 tons of 92-octane gasoline, more than 60,000 tons of 96-octane gasoline, some 9,000 tons of 95-octane gasoline as well as other types of gasoline have been delivered to Tajikistan over the same nine-month period,” he noted.
According to him, the main gasoline suppliers in the country are the limited liability companies Gaznefteprom, Nouri Dilshod and Umed-88. “Thus, Gaznefteprom accounted for 35 percent of the overall amount of gasoline delivered to the country over the report period, Nouri Dilshod accounted for 12 percent and Umed-88 accounted for 8 percent, while the remaining companies dealing with gasoline supplies accounted to 45 percent,” the MEDT official said.
Rabiyev added that Tajikistan’s monthly requirements in gasoline were now 25,000-30,000 tons.
On the increase in gasoline prices that has been reported in the country in recent months, he attributed the price hike to a 54 percent rise in payments for customs clearance of fuels compared to May 1, 2009. “Besides, fuel excise tax rose 24 percent in the last four months,” said Rabiyev, “The price hike has also resulted from the rising cost of petroleum products at world market,”
According to him, current whole prices are 3.40 somoni for 95-octane gasoline, 3.200 somoni for 92-octane gasoline and 3.00 somoni and refuel stations in Dushanbe add another 0.30 somoni to these prices.
