DUSHANBE, October 15 2009, Asia-Plus — The number of cell phone subscribers has reached 4.613 million users in Tajikistan, Minister of Transport and Communications Abdurahim Ashour announced at a news conference in Dushanbe today.
Considering that the population of Tajikistan is around 7 million people, we can say without mistaking that more than half of the Tajikistan population is already benefiting from cell phone service.
The minister noted that the number of cell phone user in the country increased by 50.6 percent in the year to October 1 2009.
In the meantime, the number of electrical communications subscribers in the country has risen only 3.1 percent over the report period, reaching some 335,000 users, Ashour said.
