KULOB, September 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Kulob Prosecutor’s Office has completed investigation into case of Majid Hofizov, the head of the Kulob Blind Society.

Deputy Khatlon prosecutor in charge of the Kulob zone, Alfattoh Roziqov, told Asia-Plus today that criminal proceedings have been instituted against Hofizov under the provisions of Article 240, Part 2 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – document forgery.

“Majid Hofizov who is certified as partially-sighted has prepared forged documents of partially-sighted persons for his ten relatives and the city social care department has confirmed these documents,” said the prosecutor, “Under these documents, the Kulob city budget has provided communal services” subsidies, totaling 8,215 somoni, to them.”
