DUSHANBE, August 21, 2009, Asia-Plus — Deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) have returned from the summer recess.
Olimjon Salimzoda, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information, says parliamentarians are currently working in the committees and commissions to consider draft laws submitted to the parliament by the president, the government and separate MPs.
“We are currently working to fix the date of trips of parliamentarians to the provinces for meetings with voters,” said Salimzoda, “Most likely, meetings with voters will start after the holy month of Ramadan.”
He added that the last session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of this convocation would work from early October this year through January 2010. Elections to the parliament’s lower house parliamentary will be held in February 2010.
