QURGHON TEPPA, August 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — After being suspended for one day, the Khatlon regional TV station, TV-Khatlon, resumed broadcasting on August 4.

According to Sherali Saidov, the deputy head of the Khatlon agency for TV and radio-broadcasting, an agreement on resumption of broadcasting was reached during negotiations of the TV-Khatlon administrators with representatives of the branch of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Teleradiokom (Tajikistan’s national radio and television operator) in Khatlon.  “The sides reached an agreement on gradual repayment of TV-Khatlon’s debt to Teleradiokom within two years,” Saidov said.

As it had been reported earlier, TV-Khatlon suspended broadcasting on August 3 due to its outstanding debt to Teleradiokom.  The station now owes some 170,000 somoni to Teleradiokom.

Before June 2008, TV-Khatlon had aired three hours per day on the frequency of Tajik national TV channel, Shabakai Avval (Channel One).  In June 2008, the TV station was granted separate broadcast frequency.
