DUSHANBE, July 24, 2009, Asia-Plus — Finance Minister Safarali Najmiddinov told a press conference in Dushanbe on July 24 that they plan to sign eight investment project agreements for a total amount of 172.2 million US dollars in the second half-year of 2009.
“In thee near future, the Ministry of Finance and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will sign will sign an agreement for 20 million US dollars,” said Najmiddinov, “The amount is allocated for co-financing the third phase of the project for construction of the road Shogun-Zighar.”
“Besides, we will also sign an agreement for $25 million (the European Union grant) for the national budget support project, an agreement for $24 million (the ADB grant) for the cotton processing and market development project, an agreement for $6.2 million (the Word Bank grant) for additional financing of the emergency food security and seed imports project, and a loan agreement for $49 million with China for rehabilitation of the highway from Dushanbe to Danghara,” the minister said.
According to him, they will also sign a grant agreement for $20 million with the ADB on additional financing of the Dushanbe-Kyrgyz Border road rehabilitation project (Phase II) and two loan agreements with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) – a $10 million agreement for microfinance project and a $20 million agreement for construction of the road Kulob-Qalai Khumb.
Najmiddinov added that 11 investment project agreements for a total amount of 163 million US dollars were singed in January-June this year.
