DUSHANBE, July 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — A republican na’t performance festival will be held in Tajikistan for the first time.
Na’t is hymns to the Prophet of Muhammad; it is a particular devotional genre of poetry and music in praise of the Prophet.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, deputy Culture Minister, Ms. Faroghat Azizi, said that the festival would be held in Dushanbe from August 2-4 as part of events dedicated to the Year of Imam Azam in Tajikistan.
22 performers of na’t from all regions of the country will take par in the republican na’t festival in Dushanbe.
