KULOB, July 22, 2009, Asia-Plus — 400 packages of counterfeit Russian-made Phestal (ferment medicine, which is used for relief of acute gastritis, pancreatitis, and cholecystitis) have been discovered during a raid made by the Kulob branch of the Agency for State Supervision of Pharmaceutical Activity (Agency) on local drugstores.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the head of Agency’s branch in Kulob Nabijon Shamolov said, “It has been established that consignments of this medicine under the serial number of 338625 have been spread across the whole country.”
The service for pharmaceutical activity supervision has worked here since March this year and over the past three months, the Kulob branch of the Agency for State Supervision of Pharmaceutical Activity has discovered and withdrawal from sale totaling 240 items of various substandard medicines. “A total weight of the destroyed counterfeit medicines is nearly 500 kilograms,” Shamolov said.
