KHUJAND, July 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — A plant for producing energy-saving light bulbs, also known as compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), is expected to be the first new enterprise within the free economic zone “Sughd” located in the southwest industrial zone of Khujand, the deputy head of the Sughd directorate for investments and state-owned property management, Tohirjon Ghafourov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, construction of the plan may begin in the near future. “Local company Nour has signed contracts with three Chinese companies,” said Ghafourov, “One of the Chinese companies will construct the plan while two others will deliver equipment.” Top managers of the FEZ and Nour are currently in China “to negotiate details of the signed agreements,” he said.
In the meantime, the center for recycling CFLs will be established at the Qairoqqum-based limited liability company Nourafkan, which is dealer of the Moscow company Electrodial LTD here, the Nourafkan director Ubaidullo Anvarov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
Eelctrodial LTD is engaged in supplying lams from China and certifying them in accordance with Russian standards.
