DUSHANBE, July 15, 2009, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has been invited to attend Russian President’s Cup Horse Race, according to the MFA information department.
Some CIS media report that a traditional informal CIS summit will not be held this year. The presidents will meet at Russian President’s Cup Horse Race in Moscow on July 18.
According to Russian media, Moscow invited all leaders of the Commonwealth for the horse racing that will be held at the Central Hippodrome in Moscow on Saturday, but the meeting won’t be given a status of an informal CIS summit.

cited the source in the Kremlin as saying that political background of the meeting is minimized: only who are interested in horse riding are welcome. However, another official from the Russian president’s administration noted that any informal meetings of such high-ranking officials can be considered to be informal summits.
During his stay in Moscow, President Rahmon is scheduled to hold talks with a number of his counterparts, including President Dmitry Medvedev.

quoted the source at Russian president’s administration as saying that only five heads of state, leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Moldova, confirmed they would attend the event. These countries, expect for Tajikistan, nominated their horses for the racing.
