DUSHANBE, June 19, 2009, Asia-Plus — An international conference formally titled “Intercultural Dialogue as Backbone Factor for Development of Humanitarian Cooperation within the CIS Area” was held in Moscow on June 18.
It was the first conference on this subject, organized by the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation (IFHC) with support of Russia’s MFA, Ministry of Education and Science, Rossotrudnichestvo (Russia Cooperation) and the Russian Academy of Sciences, according to the IFHC spokesman Aleksandr Kalugin.
President of the Academy of Sciences Mamadsho lolov, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies Karomatullo Olimov, Russian-Tajik Slavic University Vice-Chancellor Rahmon Ulmasov and Khayol Boboyev, the head of the education reform department within the Ministry of Education, represented Tajikistan at the conference that considered priorities of humanitarian cooperation within the CIS area.
Intensification of migration processes, intercultural dialogue through education and sciences, preservation and development of common cultural potential of the CIS states, as well as improvement of legal foundation of humanitarian cooperation were among major topics of the conference that ended with adoption of the resolution calling for continuation of the humanitarian cooperation.
The conference participants also seconded the proposal to create register of especially valuable objects of cultural heritage of the CIS states, expand youth cooperation, develop academic and student mobility and prepare textbooks and teachers’ training program meeting principles of intercultural dialogue.
