KHUJAND, May 7, 2009, Asia-Plus — The body of an officer from the forensic squad within the Khujand police department, Suhrob Saidaliyev, who had been reported missing since April 28, was found on the bank of the Qairoqqum reservoir today, according to the Sughd police directorate.
“Saidaliyev was shot dead from a smooth-bore gun,” the source said, noting that a person suspected of having killed the police officer was already detained. The suspect’s name is not disclosed in interest of the investigation, he added.
The Bobojonghafurov prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings to investigate the murder of Saidaliyev.
