DUSHANBE, April 30, 2009, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon ha s supported an initiative of Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) to organize a charitable concert in Dushanbe on May 6, according to RCS.  Proceeds will be handed over to schools and boarding schools of the country.

The president charged the Ministry of Culture and the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting to provide assistance with carrying out this philanthropic action.

The event is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the 90th anniversary of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the 60th anniversary of the Geneva Convention.

Senior representatives from a number of ministries and organizations, representatives of Tajik intelligentsia and youth, as well as heads of international organizations active in the country will be invited to attend the event, RCS said.
