KHUJAND, April 29, 2009, Asia-Plus – Requirements for getting Russian citizenship has been tightened by additional formalities, Russian General Consul in Khujand Azim Yarakhmedov told reporters in Khujand on April 28.
In accordance with regulations on the procedure of consideration of citizenship applications, approved by Russian president’s decree of February 14, 2002 applicant also shows document certifying that he/she knows Russian at the level enough for communication both in spoken and written form, the consul said.
“Applicants now show one of the following documents: school leaving certificate issued by educational facility in the territory of former Soviet republic before September 1, 1991 or a certificate of passing the state test of the Russian language,” Yarakhmedov said.
In Tajikistan, Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU) in Dushanbe is authorized to issue such a certificate, the consul noted.
